March Break is almost upon us, and before we can escape from the cold, it is important to check what paperwork you now need when travelling with children.
Air Canada states that
“It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you - and any child travelling with you - have all the travel documents necessary to enter in, or transit through, each country on your itinerary.”
What does this mean for you?
One of the most common documents needed when travelling with a child is a Parental Consent Letter. Government Canada explains that this type of document is needed:
- If the child is travelling with one parent, the consent letter authorizing travel must be signed and dated by the other parent.
- If the child is travelling alone or without either parent, the consent letter authorizing travel must be signed and dated by both parents.
This Parental Consent Letter needs to be notarized once completed.
At Red Seal Notary we are able to both draw up the letter for you and place a notary stamp and seal on the document, allowing you to use it while you are travelling. Alternatively we can also notarize consent letters drawn up and completed by you.
